Mark Millar honoured as ‘Supply Chain Thought Leadership Champion’ in the LogiSYM 2020 Awards.
Media Release, Hong Kong, 29 June 2020
The LogiSYM Awards recognise individuals and companies who have actively demonstrated or contributed significantly to the Supply Chain and Logistics industry. After an open nomination process, winners were selected by an expert and independent judging panel across 12 award themes.
The award for Thought Leadership Champion reflects an acknowledged track record and reputation for developing new ideas and concepts that fill a gap in existing knowledge and practices, and further the development and sophistication of the logistics & supply chain industry.
Bob Gill, Chief Judge, LogiSYM Awards 2020 said “The judges also looked for evidence of dissemination of thought leadership ideas and concepts through, for example, conferences, books, articles, and media appearances. Based on the judging criteria, we found Mark Millar to be a highly deserving winner of this year’s Thought Leadership Champion award”.
One of Asia’s foremost speakers, Mark’s enlightening and engaging presentations explore the business consequences and supply chain implications of the critical mega trends impacting every company - The Asian Century, Digital Disruption, Globalisation Shifts and the E-Commerce Frenzy.
Mark developed the concept of the supply chain ecosystem in his widely acclaimed book “Global Supply Chain Ecosystems - strategies for competitive advantage in a complex, connected world” - commissioned by leading business publisher Kogan Page of London - which has sold in over 50 countries worldwide, earning praise from both industry and academia.
Grateful to be honoured as Thought Leadership Champion, Mark commented: ‘“We are on the cusp of a thrilling new era for supply chain. The coronavirus crisis has vividly exposed the profound inter-dependencies in today’s global supply chain ecosystems, and powerfully demonstrated the inherent risks in our complex connected world. Covid19 has rendered supply chain front and centre, as it accelerates online shopping, digital disruption and further globalisation shifts. Through to 2025, we will see some radical re-configuration of global supply chains, adopting a more regional approach, resulting in shorter supply chains that increase control, responsiveness and resilience, whilst reducing lead times, transportation costs and emissions. Fascinating times ahead for all supply chain practitioners - interesting, challenging, and exciting!”
Dr. Raymon Krishnan, President of The Logistics & Supply Chain Management Society commented on the significance of Mark’s award: “Each LogiSYM Award winner is independently chosen by the Judges. Nominations are completely free, without the need to buy a table, advertisement or sponsorship of any other kind. Each winner is chosen based on his or her own merits; so being nominated and winning truly means you are the ‘best-of-the-best’ in your respective category. Mark Millar is a doyen of the Supply Chain industry and his winning this award is small recognition of the excellent work he has done, and his contribution to the industry.”
