SCLP Event Summary - Networking Mixer for
Supply Chain & Logistics Professionals
Tuesday, 31 October 2017 at The Fringe Dairy
Thank You for attending our Halloween Special SCLP Networking Mixer on Tuesday 31 October, at The Fringe Dairy in Central.
Guest speaker Stephen Leung, Senior Vice President Cross Border Operations, gave a fascinating presentation about cross border e-commerce logistics, entitled 'New retail, New logistics, New opportunities'.
Lazada Insights
Stephen gave a fantastic presentation that provided an overview of Lazada's amazing success story - and the exciting e-commerce opportunities in the South East Asia (SEA) region.
With a population of 639 million and enjoying GDP growth rates of 5.5%, the ASEAN region will have more than 480 million internet users by 2020. In 2030, the average age will be 33.6 years and 65% of the population will be in the middle income class.
eCommerce across SEA is projected to grow 16-fold through to year 2025, when it will represent USD 88 billion of online retail sales, of which, more than 15% will be cross-border transactions.
5PL Digital Integrator - in discussing the Evolution of Cross-Border Logistics, Stephen shared the new concept of the 5PL Digital Integrator – a new type of logistics service provider who controls origin and destination gateways from both data and physical operations perspectives, through a mini-hub to mini-hub model.
In this model, the 5PL Digital Integrator leverages the ecosystem to create an optimal solution, whereby they manage partners at arm’s length to provide control at low cost, whilst managing the data to offer new services required for ecommerce business.
